Nestor imports was begun in 1984
by Aristides and Kathy Spiliotopoulos. Since then it has grown to become one of America's
largest importers of Greek wines and spirits. The company also distributes in New
York State.
Nestor is the importer of the large Kourtaki line, including their famous
retsina and the Kouros and Calliga brands. In the more premium category,
their portfolio includes two plums; Domaine Kosta Lazaridi and Oenoforos.
Chateau Pegasus, the Markovitis label from Naousa represents the company's
regional offering. Also part of mix, Dimitra Wines, produced at the Spiliotopoulos
family's Geromilos farm in Greece and Contessa Camilla Italian wines. Capping
the portfolio is the famous Barbayanni line of ouzos from Lesvos and the recently
added artisanal Ouzo Plomari.
Aristides was a well-known entrepeneur before starting the company. Kathy is perhaps
best known for her past work as vice president of the Greek Food and Wine Institute
based in New York, introducing Americans to Greek culinary and oinological traditions
at numerous events over many years. |
