Violette began in 1985 as a seller
of specialty and niche market wines to an increasingly sophisticated clientele of
consumers, restaurants and retailers in Boston.
Richard Kzirian, Violette's owner, immediately established himself as a serious voice
with a near-religious following, often the first distributor in Massachusetts to
feature emerging regions that would eventually become mainstream. The focus at Violette
has always been on honest wines that reveal both their terroir and the integrity
of the people that produce them.
With his focus on organic and biodynamic growers and undiscovered or overlooked winemaking
talent, it is no surprise that Kzirian would be drawn to Greece. Nor is it a recent
interest. He has been following developments there since the mid-nineties, looking
for products that would fit his criteria for quality, personality and price. |
