Wine and Spirits
annual Greek wine report.
Wine and Spirits Magazine published its annual report on Greek wine in its August
issue. W&S editor Tara Q. Thomas, undoubtedly the American wine media's most
devoted student of Greek wine reviewed 66 wines. High praises went to Santorini's
Heliopoulos, Nemea's Skouras and Gaia and Mantinia's Spiropoulos. Her highest Kudos, however, were reserved for
Nemea's Papaioannou. Naousa vintners Boutari and Kir-Yianni competed for top honors in that region.
Thomas is to to be praised for adhering religiously to the magazine's 100-point rating
system. While her reviews display her appreciation and enthusiam for Greek wine,
her numerical ratings provide valuable estimations of comparative quality--information
that goes a long way towards helping consumers pick through the still-confusing array
of Greek offerings. We know our members value any indication of where their wines
stand against products from other regions.
Her reviews will soon be entered into our database of media reviews. |
